Thank you to everyone who came along to the Mersea Lions Family Festival on Saturday 17th August, the sun shone and the field was full of happy people. We hope you enjoyed the day, especially the lucky person who won the First Prize of £200 in our raffle.

Thank to the following businesses who kindly donated raffle prizes: Baldwins Department Store, Bonners Barn Farm Shop, Galley Seafoods, Mansion House Florist, Maydays Estate Services Ltd, Miller Motor Group Ltd, Oakheart Property, Selsley Foods Ltd (Cotswolds), The Jewellery Hut and Valeries Tea Room.

Thank you to all of the musicians and singers, Jowers Farm for donating the straw bales, the vehicle owners (How much time must have been spent waxing and polishing?), the stall holders and traders, charity stalls, the emergency services (the fire brigade was called out on a shout), Foxash Fun Dog Show for another successful show with monies raised going to charity (which includes the Mersea Lions), By The Beach Crochet for holding a raffle for a parasol and hat with the money raised generously donated to Mersea Lions.

A huge thank you to Holly Ohmke for another fabulous year of all day music, also for obtaining sponsorship from Hunnaball Family Funeral Group, The Coast Inn and Island Scaffolding Ltd. 

Thank you to Paul from North Essex Travel for providing the shuttle bus service from the village to Waldegraves.

Thank you to Waldegraves Holiday Park for their ongoing all year round support.  David, Toby, Krystal, Glen and all the staff are amazing. The housekeeping staff kept the toilets clean and stocked, extra bins were provided and emptied many times during the day.  Thank you all.

Thank you to the Mersea Island Explorer Scout Unit for running the car park again this year.  If you are interested in knowing more about the fun they have you can find them on Facebook.

Thank you to the brilliant volunteers in the Children’s Area, Carla Amey (Mersea Events), Pat Marshall and Celia Hill, you are all amazing.  The marquee was extremely busy all day with children (old and young) taking part in being creative and having fun.  This year we had a Nursing/Baby Changing gazebo which was very popular.

Thank you to all the SMILEs (Supporting Mersea Island Lion’s Events), our volunteers who gave up their time to help us put on this event.  Without your help we couldn’t do this.

Finally, thank you to all the Mersea Island Lions for the incredible teamwork and the hours you put into pulling off this event.
