Beach Hut Booking Request

Our Lions beach hut is available for use in return for a recommended donation of £50.00 per day towards its upkeep. (BACS payments now accepted – see below)

If you would like to request a booking, please check that it is available on the date/s you wish to use by checking the calendar below. Available dates are shown in green.

Bookings are now open for 2026.  As far as possible, they will be dealt with in the order they are received.

The preferred way to book is via the booking request form below which will be automatically emailed to us.

It is best to use the Booking Request and Query Form for all queries.

We aim to process bookings in the order we receive them, whether by the online form, email or telephone. We will contact you by phone and or email to let you know the outcome of your request.

We aim to keep the calendar as up-to-date as possible but occasionally a date shown as available may already be in the process of booking by a prior applicant.

Our beach hut is a very popular facility during the summer months so we advise booking well in advance.

If your booking is successful, we will email to advise you of where to pick up the key nearer to your booking. If you haven’t heard from us by 3 days before your booking, please contact us on the form below.

Our keyholder has also been provided with a card reader so payment can be made by debit/credit card when collecting/returning the key. We also accept cheques made payable to “Mersea Island Lions Charity” or cash.

We do ask that:

• The use of the beach hut is between 10am and 6.30pm
• That users please leave it in a TIDY and CLEAN condition
• The booking is for a party of no more than 12 people
• No fires are to be lit on the beach
• Be mindful to show courtesy and consideration to other beach hut owners
• No loud music to be played to the annoyance to others
• When putting up windbreaks do not encroach beyond the beach hut boundary
• Car parking is not included as part of the booking

IMPORTANT: It has come to our notice that the security bar on our beach hut is heavy and some people struggle with it due to its weight. We would urge people to take care when lifting the bar to open and close the Beach Hut.

Gift Aid:
By claiming Gift Aid on your donation we are able to increase its value by 25p for every pound. E.g a donation of £40.00 becomes £50.00.

To Gift Aid your donation, you need to be a UK taxpayer. If you are willing to allow us to claim Gift Aid on your donation please complete the Title, House Name/Number and Postcode fields on the enquiry form below. This is entirely optional.
